Action Item for This Week: The westside is one of the most job-rich regions in America, and also enjoys one of the most favorable climates in the world. An abundance of opportunities for people to prosper should be met with a corresponding abundance of places for people to live.Unfortunately, the zoning sections of the current westside community plans make it illegal or economically impossible to make housing on the westside abundant. We can fix that— let's tell City Planning to eliminate exclusionary zoning laws and regulations with the goal of making the westside accessible to all. Let's Bring More Homes to the Westside! After you write to City Planning, RSVP for our Climate-Housing Workshop on Thursday, and find out what you can do to inspire, empower, and create local leaders on climate change.

Events CalendarClimate Benefits of Housing in Cities Workshop. Aug 29 Thu 6:30 pm - Thu 8:00 pm, Koreatown.People living in the center of LA create less than one-third the greenhouse gas emissions of people in the exurbs. Housing policy is climate policy!Hear from our speakers about how housing density can reduce the footprint of our cities and reverse suburban sprawl, how we can make our cities more walkable and less car-dependent, and tackle traffic and long commutes. Thank You!The Southern California Association of Governments (SCAG) wanted to set the region's 10-year housing goal (RHNA target) at 400,000 units.YOU said NO!Thanks to your letters, Governor Newsom set the regional target at 1.3 million! Now, we need to tell SCAG to allocate that number to job-rich areas near transit. Use this form to tell them to properly allocate the 1.3 million units! We are excited by the higher target, but more zoned capacity won't automatically translate to more homes. We will continue to advocate for upzonings and development without displacement.
