Action Item for This Week: The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) proposed a new rule that could lead to the eviction of over 100,000 people from HUD-assisted housing, including 11,000 people in the City of Los Angeles.  The proposed rule would prohibit “mixed-status" families from living in public housing and Section 8 programs. Mixed-status families are households that include both members who are eligible and ineligible for housing assistance based on their immigration status. HUD's proposed rule would force families of mixed immigration status to break up to receive housing assistance, to forego the assistance altogether, or face termination from the programs.  Tell HUD to oppose this harmful and cruel rule that could lead to the eviction of 100,000 people.       Let’s keep 100,000 people in their homes! After you submit your comments, RSVP for this Wednesday’s Supportive Housing Advocacy Training and next week’s Envisioning a Positive Future for Los Angeles hosted by the UCLA Lewis Center.

AHLA does not accept donations from housing developers or their land use consultants. This is to prevent any conflict of interest. In order to prevent donations from these sources, we investigate donations of significant value which we define as over $1,000 total per year. If you have any questions about our donation policy, please reach out to us.
